Greatest moment of my life was meeting Senator Kennedy at his home in DC and getting to thank him for his hard work on Hate Crimes legislation and sharing with him my story of being attacked in a bar and ending up in the hospital with a concussion and months later the worst anxiety and depression of my life. As soon as I began to thank him and going into my story, his entire facial expression and demeaner changed. I could see in his eyes that he was filled with compassion, empathy, and genuine concern for my well-being. I’ll never forget that moment, or the greatness of this man.
What a fantastic photograph as well.
